I was struck by your closing points about a wider personal learning network for CPD, this group being outside your immediate circle/school. I am of the opinion that those engaged in the early adoption of Web2.0 tools was a MOOC like CPD experience for all of those involved. There was no certification and it was truly constructivist and great fun at the time.
