Promoting a Culture of Innovation: New approaches to professional learning in a post-Donaldson era

Reflecting on the principles, research evidence and recommendations of the Donaldson review of teacher education, this workshop aims to facilitate discussion on how to establish and maintain new approaches to professional learning for teachers that encourages innovation, creativity and experimentation; ultimately improved experiences for our learners.

The afternoon keynote will explore a major international concern about the contribution of teachers in building effective national educational systems to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The keynote will examine current international policy discussions on the development of the teaching profession and relate these to current work in Scotland on accomplished teaching.
